On April 22, 2025, residents of the Kirzhach district of the Vladimir region began posting videos and messages on social media about powerful explosions that occurred in the area of a military unit located near the village of Barsovo. According to local residents, the sounds of the explosions were accompanied by thick smoke that could be seen from afar. Eyewitnesses report that bangs and vibrations were felt within a radius of several kilometers, and the road from Moscow in the direction of Kirzhach was blocked. Footage is being distributed on Telegram channels and other social networks, which show clouds of smoke and sounds similar to a detonation.
Vladimir Region Governor Alexander Avdeyev confirmed the explosion in the Kirzhach District, but did not disclose details of the incident. In his address, he called on journalists, bloggers and residents of the region to refrain from disseminating unconfirmed information, emphasizing that the only source of reliable information should be official statements from the authorities. Avdeyev also warned that fines could be imposed for publishing unverified data.
"The responsible services are working on the scene. More detailed information will be provided later," – the governor noted on his Telegram channel.
According to information published by the Telegram channel "Baza", the explosions have prompted the evacuation of residents of seven settlements located within a 5-kilometer radius of the epicenter of the incident. The evacuation zone includes the settlements of Barsovo, Mirny, Dubki, Pershino, the villages of Khrapki, Gribanovo and the garden association "Zvezdny". These areas are in close proximity to military unit 11785, known as the arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense. According to preliminary data, the evacuated residents have been temporarily placed in temporary accommodation centers, where they are receiving the necessary assistance.
Local residents are expressing concern on social networks, linking the explosions with a possible attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Let us recall that earlier, on March 11, 2025, a drone attack was already recorded in the Kirzhachsky district, when two UAVs were suppressed by electronic warfare (EW) near the village of Pesyane.
Official structures, including the Ministry of Defense, the military prosecutor's office, the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, have not yet provided comments on the causes of the explosions and the scale of the incident. The administration of the Kirzhachsky District reported that operational services are working at the scene, including FSB and military prosecutor's office employees.
