On the night of March 13, 2025, Krasnodar Krai was attacked by Ukrainian drones, causing alarm among local residents and drawing attention to another escalation in Russia's border regions. Eyewitnesses reported several powerful explosions, presumably followed by a large fire. The exact location of the incident remains unclear, and regional authorities have so far refrained from commenting, leaving room for rumors and unofficial versions. The lack of confirmed data only increases tension, as residents try to assess the scale of the incident on their own through social media posts and neighbors' stories.
According to information disseminated in Telegram channels, the sounds of explosions were heard in several areas of the region, and traces of air defense were observed in the sky. Some users claim to have seen bright flashes and smoke, indicating a possible large-scale fire. Representatives of the region's emergency services have not yet made statements about the consequences, which adds uncertainty to the assessment of the consequences of the attack.
The incident is part of a series of drone attacks that Ukraine has stepped up against Russian territory in recent months. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the night of March 8, air defense forces destroyed 26 Ukrainian UAVs over Krasnodar Krai, three more over Bryansk Oblast, and one each over Leningrad and Yaroslavl Oblasts. At the same time, the region's governor, Veniamin Kondratyev, confirmed the interception of the drones, noting that the wreckage of one of them caused a fire that was quickly extinguished. According to Reuters, on February 5, drones struck an oil facility in Kanevsky District, which also resulted in a fire that was extinguished without casualties.
Analysts attribute the increase in the number of attacks to attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to damage Russia's rear infrastructure, especially in the context of the successes of Russian troops in the Kursk region, where more than 1100 square kilometers have been liberated since the beginning of the year.
