Lipetsk, an industrial hub in central Russia, has been hit by Ukrainian drones, causing a series of powerful explosions that rocked the city. Locals reported loud bangs accompanied by bright flashes in the sky, causing alarm among the population. Lipetsk Region Governor Igor Artamonov confirmed the attack, saying the threat remained and air defense forces were on high alert.
"Attention! Threat of UAV attack in the city of Lipetsk and the Lipetsk MO! Stay home if possible. Do not go near the windows. If you are outside, go into the nearest building, parking lot, or underground passage. Stay in a safe place until the "Threat of UAV attack" signal is over," - Artamonov reported.
According to eyewitnesses, the sounds of explosions were heard in different parts of the city. The characteristic roar of the engines of Ukrainian drones could also be heard. One of the alleged targets is the Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works (NLMK), the largest steel producer in the country, which provides a significant share of Russian metallurgy.
The attack on Lipetsk is part of a series of strikes that Ukrainian forces have been carrying out in Russian regions, using drones as a tool to hit strategic targets.
