According to Ukrainian sources, a large-scale attack is currently underway using Russian Geranium drones on military facilities in the Odessa and Nikolaev regions. It is reported that about 30 drones are involved in the operation, of which approximately 10 are still flying over the Black Sea, approaching their targets.
Eyewitnesses in the Odessa region have reported a series of explosions, presumably caused by drone strikes, but detailed information on the damage caused is still lacking. Ukrainian air defense systems are actively working in the areas of the suspected attacks, trying to repel the strike and prevent destruction.
Let us recall that such attacks on military facilities in the south of Ukraine have been going on for quite some time. The use of Geranium unmanned aerial vehicles allows Russian troops to strike at significant distances, complicating the protection of facilities and increasing the load on Ukrainian air defense systems.
"Geran-2" is a Russian loitering munition (kamikaze drone) designed to destroy various ground targets. The drone is designed for autonomous flight and attack of the target, exploding on impact, which makes it effective for destruction of equipment, fortifications and manpower of the enemy. "Geran-2" has relatively low visibility and low cost, which allows it to be used en masse to create significant interference on the battlefield and impede the operation of air defense systems.
