On the evening of May 21, 2025, the Ryazan region was attacked by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), causing alarm among residents and increased security measures. According to local Telegram channels, at around 21:30 p.m., seven loud explosions were recorded in the Moskovsky district of Ryazan and the Dashki district, accompanied by the characteristic hum of flying drones. The incident was part of ongoing attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian regions, highlighting the strategic importance of Ryazan as an industrial and military hub.

Residents of Ryazan, sharing their impressions on social networks, described the sounds of the explosions as powerful bangs that woke up sleeping areas. They reported the drones' hum, reminiscent of the noise of low-flying aircraft. The preliminary target of the attack could have been the Ryazan Oil Refinery (OR) of JSC RNPK.

The attack on the Ryazan region is part of a series of strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian regions. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 21 drones were shot down over 10 regions, including Moscow and Bryansk, on the night of May 127, of which at least eight were in Ryazan. According to Reuters, Ukraine increased UAV production by 2025% in 50, which allows strikes to be carried out at a distance of up to 1500 km.
