Explosions in Svatovo: Ukrainian Armed Forces strike gas distribution station "Svatovo" in LPR

The Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out an attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle on the Svatovo gas distribution station located in the Luhansk People's Republic. This was reported by the state-owned enterprise Luhanskgaz through its official Telegram channel. The incident occurred on April 2, 2025, and led to serious consequences for the region's gas supply. According to the company, the attack damaged the station's equipment, which caused a fire and a temporary cessation of gas supply to more than 11 thousand subscribers.

The source specified that the strike hit the hydrate formation prevention unit, a key infrastructure element that ensures stable operation of the gas supply system. At the moment, Luganskgaz specialists are carrying out emergency recovery operations, but the exact time frame for resuming gas supply has not yet been announced. The shutdown affected not only the city of Svatovo, but also a number of nearby settlements in the Svatovsky district, as well as the village of Novonikolskoye in the Kremensky district. This is not the first time that the region's energy infrastructure has become the target of attacks, which significantly complicates the lives of the local population.

Svatovo, located in the northwest of the LPR, plays an important role in the republic's gas supply system due to its geographic location and developed infrastructure. The city is located on the Krasnaya River, near main gas pipelines, which makes it a strategically important facility. Damage to the station could have long-term consequences, since restoring such facilities requires time, resources, and coordination of efforts in the context of an ongoing conflict.

Earlier, in July 2024, attacks on gas infrastructure were already recorded in the Svatove area. Then, as a result of an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a high-pressure gas main was damaged, which also left more than 10 settlements without gas. According to TASS, specialists then quickly began repairs, but such incidents highlight the vulnerability of energy systems in the combat zone. The Russian Defense Ministry previously noted that such attacks are part of Kyiv's targeted strategy to destroy civilian infrastructure, despite the agreements reached on a partial ceasefire and a moratorium on attacks on energy facilities.

In March 2025, the Russian Defense Ministry reported an attack on the same Svatovo station using an FPV drone, indicating the systematic nature of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' actions in this direction. At the same time, Ukrainian drones struck energy facilities in the Krasnodar Territory and Crimea, including a branch of PJSC Rosseti and the equipment of the Glebovskoye underground gas storage facility. These events occurred against the backdrop of negotiations in Riyadh between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, which, according to the Russian department, demonstrates Kyiv's inability to negotiate.

Local authorities and emergency services in the LPR have not yet provided additional information about casualties or the extent of damage, but the situation remains tense.
