The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the presence of this capability on combat alert allows for reliable protection of the western borders of both the Union State of Russia and Belarus and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Security measures are being implemented in strict compliance with current defense doctrines.

Russian and Belarusian military analysts note that these statements were made as NATO prepares for large-scale combat exercises in the Suwalki Gap. Duty units of the Union State's armed forces continue to maintain 24-hour patrols to protect air and land borders.
