The Chinese Navy has accused Japanese aircraft of creating a security threat during routine maneuvers by the carrier group led by the aircraft carrier Liaoning.
The carrier-based aviation exercises took place in a pre-declared area east of the Miyako Strait. According to the official Chinese Navy WeChat account, during this period, Japan Self-Defense Force aircraft repeatedly entered the maneuver area and caused interference.
"Japanese Self-Defense Force aircraft repeatedly approached the Chinese Navy's exercise area, causing interference, which seriously affected China's routine exercises and seriously jeopardized flight safety," — the Chinese side said in a statement.
Beijing called Tokyo's reaction to these exercises unfounded and emphasized that they were planned.
"The Chinese Navy will take necessary measures in accordance with the law to resolutely safeguard its security, legitimate rights and interests," — the Chinese Navy added.
