The South Korean government has officially confirmed that North Korean troops sent to Russia are already involved in combat operations on the Russian-Ukrainian front. According to South Korean Ministry of National Defense spokesman Chung Ha-gyu, the situation is out of control.
South Korean authorities have promised to take “step-by-step and effective measures,” stressing that they will act with restraint but decisively. At the same time, a representative of the South Korean Ministry of Unification expressed deep concern that the North Korean authorities, having sent their soldiers to the front lines, are misleading their public by hiding the truth.
These statements followed a press conference on November 14, where South Korean officials confirmed that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) had received irrefutable evidence of North Korean troops being sent to the Russian-Ukrainian front. In response to questions from reporters, Chung Ha-gyu assured that the South Korean government does not intend to ignore this issue and will actively seek measures to influence the situation.
