South Korea "stole" the Yakhont supersonic anti-ship missile system from Russia

An absolute copy of the Russian supersonic anti-ship missile Yakhont was found in South Korea.

Against the background of testing by the military from South Korea a new supersonic anti-ship missile, experts have established that this is an absolute copy of the Russian supersonic anti-ship missile "Yakhont". The design of the two missiles is completely identical. This raises concerns that Seoul could take over Russian technology for the production of such missiles.

The presented photographs show a comparison of the Russian supersonic anti-ship missile Yakhont and the South Korean anti-ship missile. At the same time, there are no differences between the two weapons. At the moment, there are a lot of questions about how exactly Seoul could take possession of classified data. It is possible that the technology could have been transferred from Russia or that Seoul could well have detected and captured the Russian missile during any test launches.

South Korea has not yet provided the official characteristics of its newest anti-ship missile. The likelihood that South Korean specialists could create their own anti-ship missiles with a design similar to that of the Russian anti-ship missile system is virtually zero.

The Russian supersonic anti-ship missile Yakhont, also known as Onyx, was developed in the late 70s of the last century, but today this anti-ship missile is an effective weapon against almost any surface targets.

If true, then this is a reason to curtail the purchases of Onyx for armament.
