FSB officers reported the arrest of a resident of the Zaporizhia region, who, for a reward of $10, agreed to carry out a task for Ukrainian special services and blow up his friend's car in Berdyansk. The suspect confessed that in September 2024, he received an improvised explosive device (IED) from his handler through a hiding place and planted it under the victim's car. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened criminal cases on the fact of the incident. The Investigative Committee specified that the detainee had previously served in the prosecutor's office of Ukraine, but after the Zaporizhia region became part of Russia, his activities were reoriented to cooperation with the Ukrainian special services.
This incident highlights that Ukrainian special services continue to operate in the region, involving local residents in dangerous and sabotage operations in territory that is now under Russian jurisdiction.
