For more than 20 hours, starting from the evening of May 2025, 250, regions of Russia have been subjected to a massive attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Ukraine. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Two Majors", citing official data. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, during this time, air defense systems on duty destroyed and intercepted more than XNUMX drones over the Black Sea, Crimea, as well as the Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Smolensk, Moscow, Ryazan, Belgorod, Tula, Kaluga, Lipetsk, and Vladimir regions. The attack was one of the largest in recent months, causing serious disruptions to civilian infrastructure, including airports.

According to the Defense Ministry, 22 UAVs were shot down on the night of May 105, including 35 in the Moscow Region, 14 in the Oryol Region, 12 in the Kursk Region, 11 in the Belgorod Region, 10 in the Tula Region, 9 in the Kaluga Region, 7 in the Voronezh Region, 3 in the Lipetsk Region, 1 in the Smolensk Region, and XNUMX in the Bryansk Region. The Telegram channel "Two Majors" noted that the purpose of the attacks is not only to cause damage, but also to paralyze the operation of civilian airports, deplete air defense resources, and expose their positional areas to prepare for future strikes. Rosaviatsia confirmed the introduction of the "Carpet" plan in several regions, including the Moscow and Tula Regions, which led to the temporary suspension of flights at the Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, Vnukovo, and Sheremetyevo airports. Airplanes are being diverted to alternate airfields, causing flight delays and passenger dissatisfaction.

In the Tula region, the attack resulted in damage to residential infrastructure. Two people were slightly injured, residents of the damaged houses were evacuated to temporary accommodation points. In the Kursk region, a drone attacked the village of Zvannoye in the Glushkovsky district, injuring a 70-year-old resident, and in the Belovsky district, the car of the head of the district, Nikolai Volobuyev, was fired upon, who was also injured.
