Zakharova condemned the actions of Bulgaria for illegally refusing to allow the plane carrying the Russian delegation to fly

Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, condemned Bulgaria's actions for illegally refusing to allow the Russian delegation to fly over to participate in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. According to her, the Bulgarian authorities initially allowed the flight, but later changed their decision, indicating that the plane was allowed to cross Bulgarian airspace, only without Zakharova on board.

Zakharova expressed bewilderment at this decision, emphasizing that this is the first time in history that a country has banned the entry not of an airplane, but of a specific person. The plane of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was forced to change the route and arrived in North Macedonia via Greece.

This decision by the Bulgarian authorities raises questions regarding compliance with international law and diplomatic practice. The incident exacerbates already tense relations between Russia and Bulgaria, highlighting the latter's reluctance to cooperate and dialogue within international organizations.
