The West decided to limit the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine

Ukraine's Western allies have decided to limit the number of delivered F-16 fighters until the end of the summer, causing disappointment in Kyiv. According to Western press information, Ukraine will receive significantly fewer aircraft than planned. Advisor to the head of Zelensky's office, Mikhail Podolyak, previously stated that Kyiv needed to receive 128-130 fighters at once, but the reality turned out to be different.

According to the agency, during the summer Ukraine will receive only six fighters, and by the end of the year the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be replenished with no more than twenty aircraft. The reasons for this limitation are explained by a number of factors, the main one being the lack of trained pilots who speak English to fly the F-16.

In addition, Ukraine does not have the necessary infrastructure conditions to accommodate a large number of aircraft. The airfields are not properly equipped, which makes them vulnerable to attacks from Russia. Western allies also fear that stationing large numbers of fighter jets at Ukrainian airfields will make them priority targets for Russian attacks.
