Zaporozhye NPP lost connection with the last external power line

The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear power facility in Europe, is facing a critical situation after losing contact with its last external backup power line. This was announced by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi. Currently, the nuclear power plant receives electricity through a single 750 kV line, which jeopardizes the nuclear and general safety of the facility.

This information comes against the backdrop of ongoing shelling of the station, for which, according to the Russian side, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are responsible. Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Yuri Shvytkin emphasized that Russia is taking all possible measures to protect the energy facility, trying to prevent a possible accident and environmental disaster that could follow the shelling.

The situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is of serious concern to the international community, since any incidents at the nuclear plant can have far-reaching consequences.
