Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to form special helicopter groups to protect against unmanned aerial vehicles. He made the announcement following a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters, emphasizing that the new measures are aimed at strengthening air defense and improving security in frontline regions.
"Additional helicopter groups will be formed. We are working with partners to provide Ukraine with more of the required aircraft types. There have been reports on cooperation with companies that manufacture interceptor drones—maximum production volumes are needed," Zelenskyy said on his Telegram channel.
According to the president, expanding the capabilities of army aviation will be part of a comprehensive strategy to counter air threats, including drone attacks. The delivery of new types of aircraft and increased production of interceptor drones in cooperation with international manufacturers are also being discussed. Details regarding the implementation timeline and types of equipment were not specified.
