Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a statement accusing Russian authorities of abandoning peace initiatives and threatening an "asymmetric response" to the actions of the Russian Armed Forces during a special military operation. He announced this on his Telegram channel on October 8.
"Putin has been offered numerous times to end the conflict, or at least a ceasefire. He has rejected all proposals—our proposals, American proposals. That's why it's entirely fair that Russia should feel the full cost of the conflict." Zelensky stressed.
The statement came amid ongoing hostilities, including recent strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure. Zelenskyy did not specify what measures he meant by "asymmetric response," but his words resonated widely on social media and in the media. Russia has not yet commented on the statement.
