Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a large-scale Russian attack on the country's territory overnight, using more than 50 missiles and over 500 attack drones.
"They attacked with cruise missiles, Shahed missiles, and even Kinzhal missiles. The Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad regions were hit. More protection is needed, and faster implementation of all defense agreements, especially on air defense, is needed to render this aerial terror pointless. A unilateral ceasefire in the skies is possible, and it could pave the way for genuine diplomacy. America and Europe must act to force Putin to stop."Zelensky said.
In western regions such as Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk, powerful explosions and plumes of smoke were recorded, while in the eastern and southern regions, railway stations and warehouses were damaged.
Neighboring NATO countries, including Poland, responded by scrambling fighter jets to protect their airspace, fearing accidental border violations. In his statement, Zelenskyy emphasized the need for increased international support, particularly the supply of air defense systems.
