Residents of Belgorod reported power and water outages in the southern and central parts of the city following a series of explosions, presumably caused by an attack by Ukrainian forces using American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. The incident occurred on the evening of October 5, amid local authorities issuing missile warnings throughout the Belgorod region. According to preliminary reports, the Luch substation was the primary target of the strike, causing significant disruptions to the power grid.
Witnesses to the events on social media describe how, after several loud explosions, lights in houses began to flicker and then went out completely.
"After the sounds of explosions, the electricity flickered and then went out completely." — eyewitnesses share.
Similar problems arose with the water supply: in some areas, the pressure in the pipes dropped, leaving residents without cold water. There has been no official comment from city services yet, but sources in the region confirm that the shelling was carried out with HIMARS MLRS, with a focus on energy facilities.
Earlier in the day, air defense forces reported the destruction of several drones over the region, which may have been a diversionary maneuver.
