Kazan residents reported explosions and attacks by Ukrainian drones

On June 24, 2025, Kazan was subjected to another attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), causing significant disruptions to the city's infrastructure. Residents of the capital of Tatarstan reported at least six explosions in the sky, which, according to preliminary data, were associated with the operation of air defense systems that repelled the drone attack.

The “drone hazard” regime introduced in Tatarstan has been in effect for more than 10 hours, and Kazan airport is closed, which has led to flight delays and cancellations.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 24 drones were shot down over Russian territory on the evening of June 22, some of which attacked Kazan. Air defense and electronic warfare (EW) systems shot down and suppressed several drones, preventing strikes on key targets.

Some eyewitnesses claimed that the walls of the buildings "swayed" from the explosions. The target could have been the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov and the Kazan Helicopter Plant, although there is no official confirmation of this information.
