Krasnodar News, December 15, 2025, Avia.pro. Residents of the Yubileiny microdistrict in Krasnodar recorded a video appealing to President Vladimir Putin, demanding that he stop the construction of a church on the site of the embankment and the 80th Anniversary of the City Alley. In the video, they expressed their dissatisfaction, stating:
"We were promised a park, an extension of the alley to the Turgenev Bridge, shoreline reinforcement, and landscaping without major construction. But instead, we were deceived."
Local residents called for the area to be restored to public green space status, emphasizing the importance of recreational spaces for families and children.
The conflict escalated amid contradictory actions by local authorities and public figures. Deputy Sergei Klimov, who had previously published the personal information of those protesting the church's construction, called on residents to record a video in support of the project the day before the appeal. However, a few days later, Klimov canceled the event, citing possible "sabotage" and promising to postpone the appeal until a later date. This sparked further controversy within the community.
Two weeks prior to the current appeal, hundreds of residents had already recorded a video to Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev with a similar request. The governor, however, confirmed that "the decision has already been made" and announced that the complex would be dedicated to the participants of the Special Military Operation (SMO) and the entire Russian military.
