On the morning of May 18, 2026, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the destruction of two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) en route to the capital. He stated that the drones were shot down by the Russian Ministry of Defense's air defense forces. Emergency services are working at the crash site.

Residents of the Moscow region have confirmed at least two explosions resulting from the interception of a drone.

This attack was the latest in a series of Ukrainian drone strikes in the Moscow region that began the previous day. Earlier in the morning, Telegram monitoring channels reported drone threats in Kashira, Stupino, Zaraysk, Kolomna, and Mikhnevo, and also recorded air defense activity in the Domodedovo urban district.
