St. Petersburg, June 3 — Avia.pro. Environmental specialists conducted an air quality check in the Krasnoselsky District of St. Petersburg. The monitoring was initiated after local residents began complaining en masse early Wednesday morning about a pungent and unpleasant odor in the street.
According to official information from relevant agencies, distributed by the regional publication Fontanka, the results of rapid measurements showed that the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of hazardous chemicals in residential areas was not exceeded, and background radiation levels were fully within natural limits. Meanwhile, the international meteorological service AccuWeather assessed the current air quality in the metropolis at "harmful" at midday. This environmental situation is directly related to the retention of combustion products in the ground layer of the atmosphere.
Earlier, fragments of Ukrainian drones were recorded falling in Kronstadt and the Kirovsky and Krasnoselsky districts of the city, intercepted by air defense systems on duty. The resulting major fire in the Coal Harbor, located on the territory of the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, resulted in a dense plume of smoke that was carried by the wind over residential areas. City emergency services continue to monitor the situation and environmental indicators to ensure public safety.
