On the night of November 5, residents of Vladimir and its suburbs reported a series of loud explosions and bright flashes in the sky, associated with air defense systems targeting Ukrainian drones. Eyewitnesses in various areas recorded intermittent pops and the roar of engines in the air.
Vladimir Region Governor Alexander Avdeev promptly confirmed the incident on his Telegram channel.
"Drones have attacked energy infrastructure in the Vladimir suburbs. Specialists are working on the scene. Cleanup efforts will begin as soon as daylight arrives. Please remain calm. All life support systems are operating normally." - he wrote.
According to preliminary reports, the strike hit a substation or transformer station on the outskirts of the city. There were no casualties or injuries, and the city did not experience any significant power outages thanks to backup systems. Emergency power crews are already at the site, and a full damage assessment will be conducted this morning.
The Russian Ministry of Defense included the UAVs destroyed over the region in its overall nighttime interception report. This is part of a massive wave of attacks on Russia's western regions.
