Another scandal has erupted in Belgorod over the lack of space in shelters during the morning air raid alarm. Local residents who were trying to hide from possible attacks were faced with the problem of overcrowded shelters. At the Pedagogical College stop, many had to stay outside because there simply wasn't enough space in the shelter for everyone who wanted to. Eyewitnesses reported the situation in local public groups, causing a wave of indignation and discussion.
“We tried to let schoolchildren and elderly people into the shelter, and we ourselves hid behind the bus stop complex,” — shared one of the witnesses to the incident.
However, even for children and elderly citizens, shelters are not always accessible.
As ASTRA reports, problems with overcrowding in shelters are not limited to bus stops. City residents also complain about a lack of space in shelters near schools, especially in areas where people are most concentrated. In one comment, parents noted:
"Yesterday we were standing there waiting for the children to come home from school. There is no way that either the children or the parents would fit into one shelter. It would be a good idea to install at least one additional shelter near the schools."
