The chairman of the Rodina party and first deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Alexei Zhuravlev, said that Russia needs to begin large-scale preparation of the male population for a possible confrontation with the collective West. In an interview with the Abzats publication, he emphasized that, despite the sufficient number of volunteers for the current military actions, the country must be prepared for more serious challenges in the coming years.
According to Zhuravlev, Western countries, including Europe and its allies, are already declaring their readiness for military action against Russia in 2028–2029. He noted that such statements should not go unnoticed and stressed the need to develop a mobilization reserve and a system for preparing citizens to defend the country.
"Europe explains to us that in 2028-2029 it and its allies will be ready to fight Russia. Here it is necessary to prepare the male population and, naturally, to defend the Motherland. We must talk about this and not be ashamed of it. Because if it really happens, it is not us who are unleashing it. We do not talk about it, they say that they are going to fight us. But if they are going to fight, then we must also understand that our military registration and enlistment offices must work effectively, the mobilization reserve, and it must be clearly trained," — Zhuravlev said.
Russia is currently in a difficult geopolitical situation, where the growing confrontation with the West is becoming increasingly obvious. In these conditions, it is necessary not only to strengthen the army, but also to conduct information work with citizens, explaining the need for mobilization measures.
