US fighter shot down a drone similar to Russian Forpost UAV in eastern Syria

An American fighter jet shot down a drone similar to the Russian Forpost UAV in eastern Syria.

A few hours ago, a US Air Force F-15E fighter attacked an unknown unmanned aerial vehicle in the skies over eastern Syria. It is reported that the drone approached the base where about 900 US military personnel are located (probably, we are talking about a new US Armed Forces facility, where the Patriot air defense system was previously deployed), as a result of which the drone was destroyed. Notable is the fact that the destroyed drone is suspiciously similar to the Russian Forpost UAV.

At the moment, the information and news agency Avia.pro has information that the drone was shot down in the area of the Syrian city of Al-Mayadin, where the Russian military was previously located, who ensured control over the territory of the SAA and took part in military operations against terrorists of the Islamic state ”(a terrorist group banned in Russia - ed.), including the use of the Forpost drones.

In turn, Syrian sources report that an Iranian drone of the Ababil family could have been destroyed. These drones have a very similar design compared to the Russian Forpost UAV.

At the moment, there are no official statements on this score either from the United States, or from Russia, or from Iran.
