Cyprus transferred 11 Russian Mi-35P helicopters to Serbia

The Scramble publication reports the transportation of 11 Mi-35P combat helicopters from Cyprus to Serbia. The transportation was carried out on three flights of the An-124-100 aircraft (registration UR-82008) of Antonov Airlines. The planes took off from Paphos airport in Cyprus and arrived at the Serbian airbase of Batajnica. The transportation took place from November 19 to 21.

These helicopters were purchased by Serbia from the Cyprus National Guard. Cyprus, in turn, purchased 12 Mi-35P helicopters from Russia in 2001, but one of the helicopters was lost. The decision to sell the helicopters was made due to the impossibility of their normal maintenance after the introduction of EU sanctions on military-technical cooperation with the Russian Federation in 2014.

Any other details in this regard have not yet been provided, but Serbia previously expressed interest in purchasing a batch of Russian rotary-wing aircraft.
