Ukraine officially turned to Finland for the supply of F-18 fighters.

Against the background of how Finland plans to remove the American F \ A-2025 Hornet fighters from its armament by 18, it became known that Ukraine sent an official request to Finland for the supply of these combat aircraft. Information about this was confirmed by the Minister of Defense of Finland.

According to the Minister of Defense of Finland, during the discussion of a new assistance package, it was decided to provide Ukraine with three more Leopard 2 tanks. However, among other things, the head of the Finnish defense department also confirmed Ukraine's intentions to receive Finnish F\A-18 Hornet fighters. A decision on this issue is currently under consideration.

“We have just approved the 14th Defense Assistance Package for Ukraine with three more Leopard tanks. I can confirm that Ukraine has turned to Finland with a request to provide Hornet fighters. We ourselves need Hornets, but we will respond to Ukraine's request in due time"- said the Minister of Defense of Finland.

Experts note that, at best, Finland will be able to allocate two F \ A-18 Hornet fighters to Ukraine. However, given the lack of experience of the Ukrainian military in operating such combat aircraft, it is more than likely that if the fighters are transferred to Ukraine, this will happen no earlier than 2024.
