German Leopard 2A4 tanks have long been renowned for their reliability and superior combat performance.

However, in preparation for large-scale military exercises in Poland, an incident occurred that can hardly boast of the safety of this equipment.

One of the German Leopard 2A4 tanks, on the rise from the hill, stuck its gun into the ground, and as a result, the tower was torn off from the hull even before the start of hostilities. The combat vehicle was driven by the Ukrainian military.

No one from the crew of the tank was injured, but this incident caused great concern in the military community regarding the safety of using this equipment in real combat conditions.

It is necessary to establish the cause of the incident and take measures to ensure maximum safety of tank crews in the course of combat missions.

The Leopard 2 tank is a main battle tank (MBT) developed in Germany in the 1970s and entered service in 1979. It became the successor of the Leopard 1 tank and is one of the most modern and efficient battle tanks in the world.

Leopard 2 has high mobility, powerful armor and precision weapons. The tank is equipped with a 120 mm Rheinmetall L/44 smoothbore gun (in later modifications, L/55), which is capable of hitting various types of ground targets. In addition, the tank has machine guns for self-defense and light targets.
