Poland deploys new units in the east of the country

The Polish Ministry of Defense is strengthening the areas bordering Belarus. According to the local press, in the eastern part of the country, in the city of Biala Podlaska, the creation of a new mechanized battalion, capable of covering the "dangerous, Belarusian direction", is nearing completion.

A new modular base camp for the battalion is being built on the site of the former Polish Air Force base in Biala Podlaska, operating from 1945 to 2002. In 2020, it was decided to transfer the land to the Ground Forces for the arrangement of new infrastructure.

The new mechanized battalion will join the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade. In the future, two mechanized battalions, a reconnaissance and sapper company and a transport battalion are going to be deployed on the territory of the town.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Defense of Poland announced plans to increase the number of servicemen in the Armed Forces of the republic up to 2019 thousand people back in 200. There is a special program to popularize military service called "Become a Soldier of the Republic of Poland", launched by the Polish Ministry of Defense in 2018.

In addition to increasing the number of army units, territorial defense units are actively deploying in the east of the country. The formed territorial brigades will support the Polish army in containing the "Russian aggression" until the main NATO forces are involved.

It should be noted that the “Belarusian direction” and the “Suvalka corridor” are the most probable directions of a strike by Russian troops, which will allegedly follow from the territory of the Kaliningrad region or Belarus, allied to the Russian Federation.
