The United States refused to transfer new Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine due to the threat of Kinzhal strikes

The sudden cessation of supplies of American Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine has raised many questions among experts and analysts. Larry Johnson, a former CIA analyst, said that this is directly related to the destruction of a battery of an American anti-aircraft complex by a Russian hypersonic Kinzhal missile.

For a long time, the United States has been an active supporter of Ukraine, arguing for the importance of strengthening its air defense. However, according to Johnson, the Americans are now transferring less significant and expensive anti-aircraft systems to Kyiv, such as NASAMS. The reason for this decision is the defeat of the Patriot complex by the Russian Kinzhal.

"We have not heard any news about this installation for several months. It was sent to Ukraine, it was blown up. It appears that it was either destroyed or is being repaired, but is definitely not used on the battlefield.", Johnson noted.

It should be noted that before the incident, Kyiv was actively disseminating information about the high efficiency of the Patriot system, but the destruction of the complex by a Russian missile was a serious blow to the reputation of American technology. At the same time, attempts by Ukrainian representatives to pass off the complex as invulnerable and to claim that it shot down “six hypersonic missiles” caused skepticism among experts, since such a statement seems unlikely.

It is also worth recalling that earlier Western media, citing the Ukrainian military, confirmed information about the defeat of the Patriot complex as a result of a missile attack. After this, Ukraine stated that the complex was sent for repairs, but it has not yet returned to service.
