Germany is developing a new generation fighter Diabolo

Germany is taking steps towards creating a new generation fighter that will meet the modern requirements of its Armed Forces. The DLR Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology took over the project, initiating the development of a future fighter demonstrator called the DLR-FFD (Future Fighter Demonstrator) Diabolo. This project does not represent the final design of the aircraft, but will lay the foundation for future technological solutions that could be used in advanced weapons.

It is not yet clear whether this project will be integrated into the existing FCAS/SKAF program, where France plays a key role, or whether Germany will choose the path of development in cooperation with other countries or even create its own fighter. The DLR-FFD Diabolo project features a classic dual-engine, dual-tail design, reminiscent of the American F-22, and offers a number of features including a flight range of approximately 2000 km, the ability to carry weapons weighing up to 8 tons, and maintaining stealth characteristics when using weapons.

The project focuses on key aspects of aviation, such as aerodynamics and flight control, while issues related to propulsion, electronics and avionics remain outside the scope of its current analysis. It should be noted that the fighter is designed taking into account the possibility of increasing payload capacity by reducing stealth characteristics, which makes it a flexible option for various combat missions.
