Italian soldier Walter Biota received 30 years in prison for spying for Moscow, the decision was made by the military tribunal of Rome, reports ANSA.

Also, a civil court case has been launched against Biot, which has been postponed until the summer. It is noted that the decision of the tribunal can be challenged in higher judicial institutions.

Recall that at the end of March 2021, a member of the General Staff Biot was arrested along with a representative of the Russian embassy on the outskirts of Rome. According to Italian law enforcement officers, the detainees had a data carrier and a box of cash.

Biot is accused of divulging classified information. At the same time, he is the father of four children, one of whom is disabled.
