Large-scale attack on Russia: 68 Ukrainian Armed Forces drones attacked a refinery and a military airfield

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported the interception and destruction by air defense systems of 68 Ukrainian drones operating over the territories of Kuban and Crimea over the past night.

“Night actions of the Kyiv regime aimed at terrorist attacks using aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against targets on the territory of our country were successfully stopped”, the department emphasizes.

Drone attack on Russian oil refineries

According to the information provided, 66 UAVs were destroyed over the Krasnodar Territory, and two more over the Crimea.

Roman Sinyagovsky, head of the Slavyansky district, reported that a fire had been extinguished on the territory of the plant in Slavyansk-on-Kuban: “The plant was attacked by nine drones, which targeted the tank farm and distillation column. The protection system allowed us to avoid serious damage to the tank farm, but the distillation column was damaged. The fire was eliminated thanks to the coordinated actions of the responsible services,” the official statement states.

Consequences of the Ukrainian drone attack

Sinyagovsky also added that there were no casualties as a result of the attack. At the operational headquarters of the region, referring to data from the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Krasnodar Territory, it was noted that at the Slavyansk Oil Plant the fire area was 5 square meters, and the separating unit was also damaged.

Consequences of the Ukrainian drone attack

Eduard Trudnev, director of integrated security of the Slavyansk ECO group of companies, reported a partial shutdown of the oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban as a result of a night attack by Ukrainian UAVs. “The plant temporarily stopped operations after an attack by ten drones, which caused a serious fire. There is a possibility of hidden damage,” Trudnev said.

Attack on Kushchevsky airfield

The main target of the attack was the Kushchevsky airfield, where 38 of the 66 drones were sent, as reported by the Mash telegram channel. Videos later appeared on the Internet allegedly showing the consequences of the attack on the airfield, but there was no official confirmation of this information.

Judging by the footage published by the Fighterbomber Telegram channel, there were consequences, since the video recorded the presence of elements very similar to UMPC, however, there were no official confirmations or comments on this matter.

Kiev goals

Such attacks from Ukraine can be twofold. In particular, Kyiv can prepare for the use of long-range ATACMS missiles and, in addition to launching attacks with kamikaze drones, also monitors the behavior of air defense systems.

However, given the successful defeat of the current attack, it is logical to assume that Kyiv's plans will fail.
