Seven lives were lost in four days. In Tatarstan, security forces in a Maybach collided with a Niva: consequences

In the Zelenodolsk region of Tatarstan, former security forces from the Azerbaijani diaspora had an accident when they were driving in the oncoming lane in a Maybach SUV and collided with a cornfield. As a result of the accident, the driver and passenger of the field were killed.
In the Maybach car were former employee of the Russian Guard Tural Ismayilov (driver - editor's note) and former lieutenant colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazan Gashim Ismayilov, they were left without serious injuries. Mercedes has had 164 fines recorded since May 19, 2023.
An accident involving a Maybach car occurred in Tatarstan, which resulted in the death of two people. The incident happened on the morning of April 18 on the Volzhsk-Zelenodolsk highway. The 28-year-old driver of a Mercedes Maybach, overtaking on a continuous marking line, collided with a Niva turning left.
The driver and passenger of the domestic car died at the scene. The passenger of the Maybach car suffered a hand injury. The collision was captured on dashcam.
The chief traffic inspector of the Republic of Tatarstan expressed concern about the fatal accident with a Maybach car: “This is happening just a kilometer from our traffic police squad!” Rustem Garipov raised the alarm, noting that since the beginning of the year, 85 people have already died on the roads.
"The driver was found dead 6 meters from his car!" - the head of the traffic police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustem Garipov, expressed indignation. Over the past 3,5 months, the number of deaths on the roads of the republic has reached 85 people, which is 29 more than last year. The traffic police is taking decisive measures: increasing the number of patrols and launching a balloon into the sky, which will detect cases of driving into the oncoming lane. Its location remains a mystery for now. You can learn about the causes of deaths on the roads, the planned installation of new cameras and other measures that the traffic police will take to reduce the number of deaths from our material.

In light of the increase in fatal accidents, the head of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustem Garipov, convened an urgent press conference.

A surge in road accidents with fatalities on the roads of Tatarstan has caused alarm in the region’s traffic police. Over 3,5 months, the number of deaths in road accidents reached 85, which is 29 cases more than in the same period last year. Although the number of accidents decreased to 698 cases, which is 86 less than in the same period last year.

Due to the increase in the number of fatal accidents, the head of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustem Garipov, organized an urgent press conference. The main motive was the latest fatal accidents on the roads, in particular yesterday’s accident in the Bugulminsky district, where three people died. The reason was that the driver of the car drove into the oncoming lane.
Recently, another fatal accident occurred in the Zelenodolsk region. The Maybach car drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Niva car, which was turning left. As a result of a strong collision, the driver and passenger of the domestic car died on the spot. The driver and passenger of the Maybach, former lieutenant colonel of the Kazan Ministry of Internal Affairs Gashim Ismayilov and his son Tural, remained alive.

Garipov noted that before the tragic collision, the Maybach passed by the traffic police squad, which was engaged in preventing the vehicle from entering the oncoming lane. “Just a kilometer from the location of our traffic police squad, such a serious traffic accident is happening!” - Garipov expressed his indignation.

On April 16, another clash occurred in the Nurlat district, in which three people died on the spot and two were in serious condition. One of the drivers was not wearing a seat belt. “He was not fastened in the cabin, the living space was not violated. If he had buckled up, he would have survived. His passenger was wearing a seatbelt and was injured but survived. I want to convey to everyone that basic compliance with traffic rules saves lives,” said Garipov. In total, 12 people died in accidents this year due to ignoring the fastening of seat belts, according to the chief traffic inspector of the republic.
Yesterday in the Sarmanovsky district, the driver of a car, according to preliminary data, drove into the oncoming lane, collided with a road sign, and then overturned in a ditch. He died on the spot. “DPS officers reported that the driver’s body was 6 meters from his car. In addition, he was not wearing a seat belt,” Garipov added.
Another cause of death on the roads this year was cases of drivers falling asleep at the wheel. “When you feel tired, it is important to immediately stop and rest. If your loved ones go on the road, it is important to maintain contact with them. Even short communication can save lives,” noted the head of the republican State Traffic Inspectorate, adding that the morning accident in the Bugulminsky district allegedly occurred due to the driver falling asleep.

However, the number of fatal accidents caused by drunk drivers has decreased. During the current year, there were 27 accidents where the culprits were drunk drivers before driving, which is 15 cases less than in 2023, and three people died. "However, even these cases are unacceptable. With the onset of the spring-summer season, the time for rest and picnics comes. Traffic police officers are on duty around the clock. However, it is important to note that drunk drivers can not only be held accountable, but also cause death as well drivers and other citizens!" - Garipov emphasized.

However, sometimes fatal accidents are not the fault of drivers. For example, on April 11, in the Chistopol region, a sober driver, driving a serviceable car and following traffic rules, hit a pedestrian in the dark who was simply not visible. “If there had been at least one small reflective element on the pedestrian’s clothing, he would have survived,” the chief traffic inspector emphasized, recalling the importance of using reflective elements.

The issue of road deaths can only be resolved through active preventive work and information support, Garipov believes. He noted that yesterday’s accident in the Zelenodolsk region indicated that the car involved in the incident had more than 160 traffic violations, for which fines were paid, and the owner of the car, DGM LLC, regularly received reminders about the inadmissibility of violations.
Due to the increase in the number of fatal accidents, the number of traffic police patrols on the roads of the republic has been increased. “The main task of these patrols is to prevent violations. On weekends, the number of patrols on the federal roads of Tatarstan will be increased,” Garipov said. He emphasized that responsibility for fatal accidents lies solely with drivers.

In the near future, 60 new complexes for video and photographic recording of violations will be installed in Tatarstan. By summer, a balloon will begin to fly in the sky over the republic, which will record departures into the oncoming lane.

In addition, motorized battalions are now on duty to suppress violations committed by motorcyclists. Recently, an accident occurred in the Sarmanovsky district in which a motorcyclist collided with a car and was then hit by a truck. The motorcyclist died on the spot. “Eyewitnesses reported that he was driving in violation of traffic rules. I emphasize the importance for parents not to buy dangerous toys for their children. If they are purchased, they must comply with safety requirements and have a driver’s license,” Garipov said.

Similar raids are being carried out to curb accidents involving electric scooters. "Dozens of violations are recorded daily. Scooters are driven by two or three people, crossing the roadway without the necessary precautions. The requirements for electric scooters are strict, but the main thing is that their operators must comply with traffic rules. At night, they must be equipped with light lights. If traffic rules are observed, they are treated favorably," Garipov added.

The question remains: has the driver of the Maybach been arrested or what?
