Aeroflot's membership in the SkyTeam alliance has been suspended

Russian carrier Aeroflot is no longer a member of the SkyTeam alliance.

Today it became known that the Russian national carrier Aeroflot has been excluded from the SkyTeam alliance, or, more precisely, "SkyTeam and Aeroflot have agreed to temporarily suspend the airline's membership in SkyTeam."

“In a statement, SkyTeam announces that it is working to limit the negative impact on customers and will keep those affected by any changes to SkyTeam benefits and services. These include:

  • SkyTeam benefits for customers of SkyTeam partner airlines will be suspended when traveling on Aeroflot flights.
  • SkyTeam benefits for Aeroflot customers will be suspended when flying with other SkyTeam airlines"

, - reports the resource "One Mile at a Time".

How seriously the exclusion of the Russian air carrier from the SkyTeam alliance will affect the activities of the airline is still unknown, but last week another Russian air carrier was excluded from the alliance - Russia's second largest airline S7 Airlines.

Representatives of the Russian air carrier Aeroflot have not yet made any official statements on this matter, however, in the context of international flights, this can be an extremely harsh measure.
