Greece is considering the possibility of transferring one Patriot air defense system battery to Ukraine

Greece is considering transferring one of its Patriot anti-aircraft missile batteries to Ukraine, but sets a number of conditions for the United States. This was reported by the Greek information portal Pronews.

Athens is demanding financial guarantees from Washington and a promise of protection from possible aggression from Turkey. The US, in turn, has expressed its willingness to provide compensation in the event of battery loss, either through replacement or financial compensation.

The details of the conditions clarify that we are talking about the Patriot PAC-3 battery, which currently protects the airspace of Athens. In total, Greece has purchased six of these batteries, but uses PAC-2GEM missiles capable of intercepting ballistic missiles at a maximum range of 150 km.

This step on the part of Greece is due to Kyiv’s request to European countries to provide at least seven batteries of the Patriot system or their analogues to protect Ukrainian territory in the current conflict.
