Italy refused to supply Ukraine with weapons after criticism of Medvedev

After criticism of Italy by Medvedev, Rome refuses to supply weapons to Ukraine.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy said that Italy was forced to abandon the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Tajani's statement was made against the backdrop of sharp criticism from the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev to the Minister of Defense of Italy about the inadmissibility of arms supplies to Ukraine.

In his statement, Tajani stressed that Italy had decided not to supply Ukraine with offensive weapons, however, defensive weapons would be provided as Italy seeks to protect Ukraine's independence. According to Tajani, Italy is not currently at war with Russia, as a result of which the supply of offensive weapons is an unacceptable step for Rome.

“We are ready to supply defense weapons, but we will never send offensive weapons. Because we are not at war with Russia, we are only defending the independence of Ukraine.”Tayani said.

In turn, the wording of offensive weapons is extremely vague, since some do not include tanks and a number of combat aircraft as such, in connection with which Tajani's statement requires a number of explanations.
