The Chinese HQ-9 complex turned out to be better than the Russian C-300 Favorit.

Despite the fact that the Chinese HQ-9 anti-aircraft missile system is almost a complete copy of the Soviet and Russian C-300 “Favorite” anti-aircraft missile system, analysts of The National Interest called it more promising and effective. This is due not only to the increased range of destruction of air targets, but also much lower cost.

According to American journalists, the Chinese HQ-9 anti-aircraft missile system was indisputably created on the basis of the Soviet and Russian S-300 Favorit anti-aircraft missile system. This is due to both the appearance and design features, however, in terms of technical capabilities, China has significantly surpassed Russia, which is indicated at least by the fact that the HQ-9 air defense system can be guaranteed to hit targets at distances of up to 300-320 kilometers, in while the Russian S-300 "Favorite" air defense systems have a maximum range of air target destruction limited to a distance of 250 kilometers. Moreover, the lower cost of the Chinese HQ-9 air defense systems makes them more competitive, and Pakistan plans to arm itself with Chinese missile and air defense systems in the near future.

On the other hand, analysts note that the reliability of the Chinese air defense systems HQ-9 still remains unknown.
