The Russian Foreign Ministry told about the threat of an attack on the Russian military airbase “Khmeimim”.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova made a statement in which she emphasized the rapidly growing threat to the Russian military airbase "Khmeimim" and the military personnel of the Russian Armed Forces stationed there. According to Zakharova, the situation in the neighboring province of Idlib, where an agreement on the creation of a de-escalation zone is currently in force, the situation is rapidly deteriorating - in fact, the positions of the militants are located at a distance from the Russian military base "Khmeimim" only 35-40 kilometers.

"The territory is actually taken under the full control of the group" Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham "(terrorist group, whose activity is prohibited in the Russian Federation - approx. Ed.) Due to crowding out the forces of moderate armed opposition", - noted Zakharova.

Analysts do not exclude that Russia can resume air strikes on militants, because the situation in the region is out of control, and Turkey does not fulfill the conditions of agreements to disarm terrorists, and moreover - supports them by transferring various types of weapons, as evidenced earlier published video (column of Turkish military accompanied by terrorists "Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham" - ed.).

According to the latest data, portable anti-aircraft missile systems have appeared in service with the militants, which threatens the flights of Russian aircraft in this region.
