The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Israeli fighters F-16 intentionally covered themselves with the Russian aircraft of electronic warfare Il-20 in the implementation of air strikes, which allowed to deceive the Syrian military, who mistakenly destroyed the Russian military aircraft by firing the missile of the S-200 complex.

"The Israeli means of controlling aviation and the pilots of F-16 could not help seeing the Russian plane, since he came in for landing from a height of five kilometers. However, they deliberately went to this provocation", - stressed in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry stressed that Israel's actions are regarded as hostile.

"We regard these provocative actions of Israel as hostile. As a result of the irresponsible actions of the Israeli military, 15 Russian servicemen were killed. This is absolutely not in keeping with the spirit of the Russian-Israeli partnership. We reserve the right to adequate response actions ", - noted in the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
