The President of Poland will hold a discussion in May on the issue of stationing nuclear weapons in the country

Polish President Andrzej Duda announced his intention to hold a meeting with the country's Prime Minister on May 1 to discuss the prospects of placing American atomic bombs on the territory of the republic. This statement follows his recent statement about Warsaw's readiness to accept US nuclear weapons on its territory.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Poland previously responded to these words of the president, noting that the decision to deploy a nuclear arsenal would be a significant step that has not yet been discussed at the government level. In the context of regional security, the deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland is seen as a possible response to threats from neighboring Belarus, which also hosts tactical nuclear weapons.

This meeting between the President and the Prime Minister will presumably focus on discussing all aspects and potential consequences of such a decision, including international obligations and relations with other NATO and European Union countries.
