US considers supply of JDAM bombs to Ukraine

It is planned to install American JDAM bombs on Ukrainian fighters.

At the moment, it is known that the United States is considering the transfer of adjustable JDAM glide bombs to Ukraine. The latter have a fairly high power and can cover distances of up to 30 kilometers, subject to launches from a height of about 13-15 kilometers. In addition, the United States plans to transfer to Ukraine kits for converting conventional bombs into adjustable bombs, which will be capable of targeting using GPS coordinates. Information on this subject is provided by The Washington Post.

The United States notes that the transfer of such weapons to Ukraine is associated with the implementation of attacks against Russia. This indicates that Washington is no longer just providing weapons to Ukraine, but also correcting Kyiv's actions, choosing the most important targets.

The Biden administration plans to send Ukraine advanced electronic equipment that turns unguided aircraft munitions into smart bombs that can attack Russian positions with a high degree of accuracy. The kits include global positioning devices to improve accuracy and can be attached to a variety of weapons, creating what the Pentagon calls Joint Direct Attack Ammunition, or JDAM. The US military has used this technology for bombs up to 2000 pounds, usually applied to bombers and fighters. The delivery of JDAM will be another important step for Washington.", according to The Washington Post.

What kind of weapons Ukraine can convert into high-precision is unknown, however, experts fear that Tochka-U tactical missile systems could get here.
