Ukraine began to use military GPS frequencies of the US Army

The Armed Forces of Ukraine switched to the use of drones and missiles operating on military GPS frequencies of the US Army.

One of the key reasons why Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have become less susceptible to electronic warfare is the use of closed GPS bands used by the US army and a number of US allies. As a result of encoding information from satellites, it is not possible to change coordinates or signals.

Until recently, it was assumed that only the Himars MLRS delivered to Ukraine and a number of other weapons were working with closed GPS bands, however, apparently, other weapons available to the Ukrainian army have now been transferred to the use of special GPS bands. It is assumed that it is for this reason that drones and missiles that aim at targets using a GPS signal have become less vulnerable to electronic warfare.

A key feature of the closed ranges of the global positioning system is that the signal from the satellites is encoded and constantly compared, which does not allow its substitution, for example, to deflect missiles and drones at a certain distance.
