16 January 2014. The US Navy F / A-18 Super Hornet crashed in the Atlantic Ocean. The pilot carried out training flights, departing from Virginia Beach, where the air base "Oceana" is located. The fighter began to lose altitude for still unknown reasons. The pilot managed to catapult, after which he was picked up by fishermen even before the arrival of a group of rescuers.

In the pilot's hospital, military helicopters were delivered, which arrived immediately after receiving the distress signal. Doctors report that the state of health is critical.

The event took place exactly one week after a helicopter crash off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Then on board were 5 people, four were able to eject, but two of them died in the hospital shortly. The body of a fifth person (Lieutenant) found divers.
