According to American experts, against the background of Russia's intentions to use the second stage engine in the Su-57 fighters, as well as arming this combat aircraft with hypersonic missiles similar to the Kh-47M2 used in the Dagger air-missile systems, the cost of the fighters will increase manifold, which, ultimately, and will bury the combat aircraft project.

“However, it remains to be seen how much these weapons [hypersonic missiles] will increase the cost of the already expensive Su-57. If there are constructive workarounds to reduce the latent impact of hypersonic missiles, would that increase the cost of the Su-57 even more?, - The National Interest experts ask.

Earlier, there actually appeared information that Russian fifth-generation fighters are supposed to be armed with hypersonic air-to-surface missiles to destroy enemy air defenses, which in turn may actually lead to an increase in the cost of the project, but no official comments from the developers of Su -57, nor on the part of the RF Ministry of Defense on this score yet.
