The Japanese edition of The Diplomat, citing information provided by the Japanese Ministry of Defense, published an article that January 16, 2019, in the airspace near the borders of Japan, were noticed, and subsequently intercepted, by two Russian heavy front-line bomber Su-24 that can carry on their board nuclear weapons.

Despite the emergence of provocative information, the Japanese edition notes that this is not about escorting Russian front-line bombers, but about interception, which is not true, since Russian planes were in neutral airspace. Moreover, experts raise a lot of questions and the panic created by the Japanese media about the fact that Su-24 is equipped with nuclear weapons - this information is quite fair, but we are talking exclusively about tactical nuclear weapons, and, in particular, about bombs, and not about rockets.
