American fighter jets seen on the border with Ukraine could be used to intercept cruise missiles.

After two American F-18 fighters were seen over the Black Sea and in Romanian airspace, it became known that the latter could be used by the Pentagon to intercept cruise missiles over the waters of the Black Sea. This is evidenced both by the increasing number of cases of intercepting missiles by “Ukrainian air defense” and by the fact that the American F-18s, seen a day and a half from the border with Ukraine, were carrying long-range AIM-120 cruise missiles.

In the presented image, you can see a pair of American F-18 fighters that were over the territory of Romania, almost at the very border with Ukraine. Judging by the flight route of combat aircraft, the latter carried out surveillance of the northeastern and northern sectors of the airspace. What is very remarkable, at the same time, an air raid alert was announced on the territory of Ukraine, and later the Armed Forces of Ukraine сообщили about the alleged interception of two cruise missiles.

It is not known to what extent American combat aircraft may be involved in the interceptions, since for obvious reasons information on this matter is not made public. However, taking into account the fact that the latter are armed with missiles with a range of hitting air targets at distances of up to 120-180 kilometers, this makes it possible to intercept targets over almost 90% of the western coast of Ukraine.
