US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper drone loses contact with base in northwestern Poland

In the Mirosławiec area in northwestern Poland, an incident occurred when a US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper strike unmanned aerial vehicle lost contact while it was conducting a scheduled quarterly training session. The General Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported the successful emergency landing of the drone and said that all services were on alert. In connection with the incident, the police cordoned off the area around the airfield, and traffic on the surrounding roads was temporarily stopped.

The MQ-9 Reaper drone, which has a length of 11 meters and a wingspan of 20,1 meters, has a payload capacity of 2,2 tons and is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 482 kilometers per hour with a flight range of 1852 kilometers. The device can be used for reconnaissance missions, rescue operations, as well as for precision strikes against ground and air targets.

According to an Avia.pro source, the incident may be related to the powerful electronic suppression in this area of Poland, observed in the last few weeks. Such suppression may be one of the possible reasons for the loss of communication with the drone.
